Lacamas Regional Park is a beautiful depiction of the PNW. With the towering Douglas firs providing a deep green backdrop against Round Lake, you get a mix of water views and lush, foresty textures. It feels secluded and wild, yet it’s right in the heart of Camas.
This park is massive, offering several distinct "looks" in one location:
The Camas Lily Fields: In mid-April-June, the meadows turn into a stunning sea of purple wildflowers.
The Footbridge & Round Lake: Perfect for classic waterfront shots and reflection photos.
The Mossy Forest: The trails are lined with ferns and moss-covered rocks that give off a magical, "fairytale" aesthetic.
While there are several entry points, for our sessions, we will meet at the main parking lot near the playground (off NE Everett St). This area provides the easiest access to the lakefront and the shaded forest paths. It is a very popular spot, so on sunny weekends, I recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to secure a parking space.
Because of the heavy tree canopy and the way the sun sets behind the ridge, sessions here are best held 2 to 3 hours before sunset. This allows us to capture that "golden hour" glow filtering through the trees. In the spring and summer, weekday evenings are highly recommended to avoid the weekend crowds and hikers.

Fallen Leaf Park is a stunning depiction of the PNW. You have towering pine trees that create a dramatic backdrop for the lily pad-covered pond. Between the reflective water and the dense "foresty" look of the trails, it provides a rich variety of natural textures for your gallery.
While the park is known for its serene water views, it offers several distinct looks:
The Lily Pad Pond: A soft, romantic background that looks beautiful in every season.
The Pine Forest: Dense, tall trees that provide a sense of scale and deep green tones.
The Public Shelter: A large, rustic structure that can serve as a great meeting point or a textured architectural element.
Lush Trails: Paths lined with greenery that create beautiful "leading lines" in your photos.
The official address is 2911 NE Everett St, but navigation can sometimes be tricky. The main parking lot is the best place to start. From there, it is a short two-block hike to reach the best waterfront and forest areas. Because this is a quieter spot than Lacamas, parking is generally easier, but I always recommend arriving a few minutes early to get settled!
Because of those beautiful, tall pines surrounding the pond, the light here is magical. To get that warm, "golden hour" glow, sessions are best scheduled about 3 hours before sunset. However, the natural tree coverage is quite generous, meaning we can often shoot a little earlier or later if needed. I primarily hold sessions here on weekday evenings during the summer and fall to capture the best light and avoid crowds.

If you are looking for a location that feels like a true mountain escape without the long drive, Battle Ground Lake State Park is a premier choice. Nestled in a volcanic crater, this park offers a unique "sunken" lake feel surrounded by dense evergreen forests that look stunning in every season.
Battle Ground Lake is a beautiful depiction of the PNW wilderness. It features a crystal-clear lake surrounded by a ring of towering trees, giving your photos a secluded, intimate feel. Because the lake is at the bottom of a caldera, the water is often very calm, creating perfect reflections for your family portraits.
This state park is incredibly versatile, offering several distinct "looks" within a short walking distance:
The Wooded Trails: Miles of lush, forested paths filled with ferns and mossy logs.
The Dock & Shoreline: A classic waterfront look with the deep green forest reflecting in the background.
The Grassy Meadows: Open areas near the top of the ridge that catch the light beautifully.
Rustic Elements: The park features old-school wooden fences and stone structures that add a touch of "cabin-in-the-woods" charm.
The official address is 18002 NE 249th Street, Battle Ground, WA 98604.
Note on Parking: Since this is a Washington State Park, a Discover Pass is required for parking. If you don't have an annual pass, you can purchase a day pass at the automated station near the entrance. We will typically meet at the main parking lot near the swimming area, as it provides the quickest access to the best waterfront views.
Because the lake is tucked down in a crater, the sun "disappears" behind the trees a bit earlier here than in other flat locations. Sessions are best held 2 to 3 hours before sunset to catch that soft, filtered light. The heavy forest canopy also makes this a great "all-day" location, as the trees provide plenty of shade even on bright, sunny afternoons.
